About charts
You can use charts to display data in a graphic format that is easy to understand and remember.
 •
Bar, line, and area charts show data graphed on X and Y axes. The X axis is typically charted horizontally and the Y axis is typically charted vertically, but X and Y are reversed in horizontal bar charts. The X-axis shows categories being measured, such as a product, and the Y-axis shows how much was measured, such as number of products sold. You can specify multiple Y-axes to compare similar data, for example the number of the same product sold during two different time periods.
 •
Pie charts show the relationship of individual data values in a data series to the total of all data in the series (the percentage of a whole). Rather than X- and Y-axes, in pie charts you specify Label Data (what you are comparing, such as the name of a company) and Value Data (what you are measuring, such as the number of a particular product that was sold by each company). Each data value in the Label Data series is displayed as a slice of the pie.
Before you create a chart, think about the data comparison you want to emphasize, then choose the chart type that will show the comparison clearly. Next create the chart in FileMaker Pro and choose chart format settings and themes.

Use the Chart Setup dialog box to create a chart based on your data
Change the format of your chart, add a legend, or add labels (titles) to the X- and Y- axes
