Converting OLE objects (Windows)
To work with a database that contains OLE objects in a format that you don't have, convert the object to a format that you have. You must convert an object to a format of an application that supports OLE.
To convert objects:
1.
In Browse mode or Layout mode, select an object to convert.
2.
Choose Edit menu > Object > Convert.
3.

Permanently convert an OLE object to a different type
Select Convert to, then select an object type from the list.
This option permanently converts objects to the new file type. If you give the file to another user, the objects remain in the new file type.
Temporarily view an object in a different format (when, for example, another user normally works with the object in its current format but you don't have that application)
Select Activate as, then select an object type from the list.
This option opens all objects of the selected file type on your computer. The data remains in the original format. If you give the file to another user, the objects remain in their original format.
Select or clear Display As Icon. (Display an OLE object as an icon when, for example, an object contains related information that you don't want to work with each time you use the database. Double-click an icon to see or hear the object's contents.)
To change the icon, click Change Icon (when Display As Icon is selected). Then select an option. (For From File, enter a filename, then choose an icon.) Click OK.
