Updating OLE links automatically (Windows)
Update a link to synchronize your view of a linked OLE object with the source file. Updating a link ensures that you're working with the most current information.
You can set a link to update automatically, so that the link is updated whenever the information in the source file changes.
To set links to update automatically:
1.
Choose Edit menu > Object > Links.
2.

FileMaker Pro runs the application that created the object, so you can edit or play it
The server application starts outside of FileMaker Pro and information in the linked source file is changed
Two fields in the current record are linked to the same source file and you edit only one field — only the edited field is updated
You click Update Now in the Links dialog
Links in a layout can't be found
You select Update all Links before printing in the Print dialog
Note  Inactive links can't be updated. For example, if the current record has two fields that both contain links to the same source file, editing one link doesn't update the view of the other link.
