Arranging objects

In Layout mode, you can:

•	group any combination of objects so you can edit or move them together

•	change the stacking order of objects to get different effects when the objects overlap

•	rotate an object or group of objects in 90-degree increments

•	align or distribute objects precisely

•	resize objects so they are all the same width (or height) in one step

Notes

•	For quick access to commands for arranging and aligning objects, you can use the Arrange palette (click Arrange in the layout bar) or the Align palette (click Align ).

•	By default, when shown, the Arrange and Align palettes appear docked, or as horizontal bars, below the menu bar. You can change the location and layout of these palettes by moving and resizing them.

 

To	Do this
Move a docked palette	Click the handle on the left side of the palette and drag it in any direction.
Make a floating palette	Click the handle on the left side of the palette and drag it away from the menu bar.
Resize a floating palette	Move the palette away from the menu bar. Then, in Windows, drag the left, right, or bottom side of the palette. In the Mac OS, drag the lower-right corner of the palette.
