Administering databases > Opening hosted files

Opening hosted files

To open a single database:

1. Click the Databases page.

2. Select a Closed (Closed status icon) database.

3. Click Down-arrow menu button and choose Open.

4. If the database is encrypted with a password, enter the password in the Open Encrypted Password dialog box.

To open all databases:

1. Click the Databases page.

2. For All Databases, click Down-arrow menu button and choose Open All.

Encrypted databases with saved encryption passwords will open, but encrypted databases without saved encryption passwords will remain closed. You must open each of these databases individually and enter the password in the Open Encrypted Password dialog box.

Notes

If the status changes to Checking (Checking status icon), FileMaker Server is checking the file’s structure before opening the file. Checking a large file may take several minutes.

When FileMaker Server opens a file with no sharing enabled, the Database Server enables the fmapp extended privilege in the Full Access privilege set. See FileMaker Pro Advanced Help.
