Using an OAuth identity provider to authenticate FileMaker clients
FileMaker Pro allows solutions to authenticate user accounts via third-party
OAuth identity providers that have been specified in FileMaker Server.
When you configure an OAuth identity provider, Admin Console prompts you to stop and restart the FileMaker Server service (Windows) or FileMaker Server background processes (macOS). While the FileMaker Server components restart, all hosted databases are unavailable to clients.
Important Change OAuth identity provider settings only when hosted solutions are not being used. Clients can lose unsaved work if you restart FileMaker Server components while clients are connected.
To set up authentication by an OAuth identity provider:
1. Click the Database Server > Security tab.
2. For Client Authentication, choose FileMaker and external server accounts. Click Save to apply this setting change.
3. Click
for the OAuth identity provider that you want to set up. Follow the instructions in the dialog box that opens, and click
Save to enable the OAuth identity provider.
4. Stop and restart the FileMaker Server service (Windows) or FileMaker Server background processes (macOS):
To disable authentication by an OAuth identity provider:
