Transferring Files
Important: When you transfer a file to your iOS device, you are creating a copy of the remote file. When you make data changes to the local file, the remote file is not updated. You must use FileMaker Pro to import and update data. See FileMaker Go Development Guide.
Routine backups are strongly recommended. Use iCloud Backup or iTunes to back up the data on your iOS device, or see FileMaker Pro Help for information about backing up files on your computer.
There are several ways to transfer a file:
- Transfer files to other devices, iCloud Drive, or third-party file providers (see the steps below).
- Connect the iOS device to iTunes with a USB cable, then transfer files to or from the device (see the steps below).
- Share a FileMaker Pro file on a webpage, then connect to the webpage with your device's Safari app. Select the file to transfer to FileMaker Go.
Important:
- Close a file before transferring it. The file doesn't have to be shared and FileMaker Pro doesn't have to be running.
- If you set an iOS passcode for the device (which enables data protection), you can't copy files to or from FileMaker Go via iTunes until you enter the passcode to unlock the device.
