Resizing layout parts

There are several ways to resize a layout part.

To resize a layout part:

1.	In Layout mode, click the Selection tool in the status toolbar.

2.	Do one of the following:

•	Drag the part label or part boundary (the line that marks the bottom of the part) until the part is the height you want.

When you resize a layout part, FileMaker Pro maintains the size of the other parts. For example, you can increase the height of the header part, but this won't affect the size of the part directly following the header part.

•	To maintain the height of the entire layout while changing the size of one layout part, Alt-drag (Windows) or Option-drag (Mac OS) the part label or part boundary. (This causes the size of the layout part immediately below the part you're changing to also change.)

•	To precisely resize a part, select the part by clicking its part label. Click Inspector in the layout bar, then click Position. Enter a value for the part's Height or Bottom boundary in the Position area. For more information, see Using the Inspector to position objects.

You can also use the rulers, grid, and guides (choose View menu > Rulers, View menu > Grid > Show Grid, and View menu > Show Guides) to help with precisely sizing parts. For more information, see Using the rulers and grid and Using guides and dynamic guides.

Notes

•	You can't make a part smaller than the objects that it holds (in other words, you can't shrink a part by dragging its boundary across an object) unless you press Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) as you drag the part boundary.

•	If you reduce a layout part to nothing by dragging it under the part above it, FileMaker Pro deletes the part from the layout.
