Working with PDF files in interactive containers
When you work with PDF files in interactive containers:

To insert a PDF file into an interactive container, in Browse mode, choose Insert menu > PDF. (This menu item is unavailable if the container field is not an interactive container.)

Windows: Be sure that a web browser plug-in (such as Adobe Reader) is installed on your local computer. If it is not installed, Insert menu > PDF will be unavailable.

Note  When a PDF file is selected in an interactive container, some keyboard shortcuts may work differently. For example, you cannot press Ctrl+L (Windows) or Command-L (Mac OS) to switch to Layout mode. You cannot press Ctrl+Shift+D (Windows) or Command-Shift-D (Mac OS) to display the Manage Database dialog box.
To copy text from a PDF file in an interactive container:

To paste copied text, select an area outside of the field and choose Edit menu > Paste. Or, press Ctrl+V (Windows) or Command-V (Mac OS).
To copy a PDF file in an interactive container:

Note  You cannot copy a PDF file using Edit menu > Copy, which copies text from the PDF. You must also press the Option key.
To delete a PDF file from an interactive container:

Note  Pressing the Delete key does not delete a PDF file from an interactive container.
To insert a different PDF file in an interactive container:

The new file replaces the previous one.
Note  When you don’t have a shortcut menu or a keyboard, you must use the Edit menu on the menu bar. You can also script a button to insert a PDF in the field. For example, create a button that uses the Insert PDF script step. To insert a PDF, select the field, click the button, and choose the PDF to insert.
